The Creative Force Behind So Bright Home

About Jackie

Hi! Thanks for checking in. I’m Jackie, mother to my precious girl Emma Ruby, fur baby mother to our Miniature Australian Shepard Dixie and wife to my wonderful and supportive husband Jeff. After living the prairie life in Saskatchewan for 5 years, we are now back in beautiful British Columbia (Smithers).

My mother taught me to sew when I was a child, however I didn’t really get into sewing until I found out I was pregnant. Shortly after my daughter was born, I opened an Etsy shop and it hasn’t stopped! After about a year, I started this website and blog in order to share my creative parenting tips and connect with other parents. There is no doubt that parenting is hard and we all have tough days, but my hope is by sharing some of our creative parenting solutions we can make some of those days and moments just a little bit easier. I mean, who couldn’t use a little extra help now and then? I know I can!

While in Saskatchewan I was an Industrial Hygienist at a local potash mine. I have now started my own business (Painted Rock Consulting) and offer industrial hygiene consulting services. And because you are probably wondering, an Industrial Hygienist has nothing to do with a Dental Hygienist (I get asked that all the time). Industrial hygiene involves protecting workers from chemical, biological and physical exposures. Dust, noise, heat, etc. (worker’s health). Health has always been a passion of mine, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to complete my MSc at UBC in Occupational and Environmental Hygiene in order to purse these career goals.

Since becoming a mom, sewing and blogging has been my outlet. It is my time, where I can relax and enjoy what I am doing and just be ME. It has also been a life saver when my husband is out of town working. It keeps me busy and my mind occupied. My daughter and I also have a lot of fun together taking photos and making new projects!

Follow along the blog for creative parenting solutions and products. You’ll also get a taste of my mom life, sewing projects, career goals, being an entrepreneur, being a wife and how I’m trying to fit it all together. I hope you join me for the ride and share some of your experiences along the way too. I always love to hear from you 🙂
