I’m not going to lie. This past year has been tough. So many changes, so many losses and so many ups and downs. I won’t bore you with the details, but in a nut shell I left my good paying job at a mine, we said goodbye to my husband’s grandparents, our family had some losses and we were constantly in limbo while our house was for sale. We are now a few provinces over and maybe not starting completely over again, but definitely building back up. It was tougher than I thought saying goodbye to some really great friends, however we decided to move for many positive reasons that we really are excited about.
I have SO much to be thankful for and I’m working on accepting that life isn’t perfect, it doesn’t go as planned and that’s okay. It really is hard for a “planner” to accept that, but I’m getting there. I believe there is reason for how life works out and I’m going to believe 2018 has some great things for our family.
On a positive note, my Sew Bright Creations business had many record sales months and I only went to one market the whole year! I hope to do more local markets in our new area (Smithers, BC) and keep this blog and my shop going in 2018. Make sure to message me if you’d like to be featured on the blog for 2018, spots are filling fast! {[email protected] with subject: blog feature}.
I could choose to only post the positives and tell you how amazing 2017 was, but it’s important to remember that what you share on social media doesn’t have to be an act, it can be the real stuff too. This is real.
So for the mommas and everyone else out there who is reading this and maybe didn’t have an awesome 2017, its OKAY! Whatever your year was like, its over now, so let’s celebrate and make 2018 full of happiness <3

Hi, good to hear from you again.. Truly.. I had no idea you were moving to Smithers! It’s the newer Mennonite community I heard about a few month ago.. You may have even purchased a house I drooled over online! I saw the church /school that the mission purchased from the community.. It looks gorgeous! My sister in law and family moved in August to Brandon Manitoba and the other one moved their family to Brazil.. Young people.. Wanting to sprout wings. Makes me realize that you get to an age where you can’t just move, simply.. Anyways. We already had one career change from dairy life to excavation and now I wish my children had the dairy life opportunity.. But allergies interfered.. Hope to keep hearing from you.. I am a Person who is the least inclined to plan ahead it is sooo boring, but I have to sometimes.. So a balance sounds good. All the best in 2018.
It’s great to hear from you too Michelle! It sure it beautiful here! It’s definitely hard to move, especially as you get more rooted in your community. It will take some time for us to adjust as well, but slowly we will get there. Planning ahead can be exciting too, it gives you great things to look forward too….but I am a planner, haha. All the best to you in 2018 as well.
I am definitely ready to move on to 2018. 2017 was a year of ups and downs for my family, and I’m hoping that 2018 is better. Congrats on your record sales months.
Thank you. I hope you’re 2018 is much better too!

Your attitude is SO refreshing, and your family is adorable. This is a great reminder to focus on positive things going forward and leave negativity in the past.
