HOWEVER, there is one exception. If you follow along my Instagram stories and this blog, you’ll know I often share personal sewing projects, things I don’t sell, things that do not help feed my family. And for those, I love to share with you and hopefully inspire you to create too! In fact, I have fabric AND patterns to share with you, in this post!
As for the things I make to sell, you can purchase from me or figure out how to make it yourself 😉
Fabric
I was gifted some fabric from Fabric-Online. Com and I thought it would be fun to pick a few different fabric types and make some children’s apparel. I don’t always step outside of my cotton or knit fabric box that I mostly sew in, but when I do I am usually pleasantly surprised. So I picked denim, twill (brown) and linen (mustard) and received half a meter of each, which was perfect for the projects I had picked out. When I’m asked for fabric shops, it is most often for Canadian fabric shops, and this one is! You can check them out HERE.
Patterns
If you are new to sewing or unsure about sizing, I strongly suggest following a pattern. It might be intimidating at first, but once you get going it will be great, I promise 🙂 Well, you know I can’t really promise that, but I know I’m always amazed how following patterns (at least the simple ones I pick) is not that difficult.
The first project I made was shorts with the denim. I used the Flat Front Shorts by Dana Made. She has a pattern you can purchase and also a video tutorial. I love how this simple pattern can become a bit extra with the buttons and fringe. Adding embellishments like buttons or fringe can really bring your sewing to the next level and it’s easy to do!

Patterns – Skirt
What’s back to school without a new outfit? And when shopping is limited in a small town, plus living in a pandemic, one might as well just make their own, right?!
I made this skirt using a free pattern from Sew Modern Kids and it’s even reversible, how cool?! Click HERE for details. It was a very quick sew up and super basic, but cute! I used the linen and twill fabrics, but you could use cotton too. You could also make it without the pom poms or use fringe instead of poms.
These little sewing projects would make cute gift ideas too! Handmade is always special 🙂
