Did you know that LOL in LOL Doll stands for Little Outrageous Little Doll? OMG stands for Outrageous Millennial Girl. Yeah… it just makes me feel old. I can’t keep up with these kids and their toys! A year ago I had no idea what an LOL Doll was and although some days I wish I still didn’t know (haha), my now 7 year old is obsessed! And without further ado, that was the theme for her 7th birthday!
I’m sure I’m not the only one with an LOL/OMG obsessed kid, so we’re sharing what we did for a simple + small birthday party. We had just two other girls over and it seemed oddly quiet for a birthday, but it was also a lot of fun!
I’ve slowly been collecting paper fans instead of balloons because they can easily be re-used. I picked these ones up at our local Dollar Store, but I’ve linked some similar ones below. The paper places, napkins and cups were picked up in the clearance section ($2 each) at the Dollar Store in another local town.
Is it even a birthday party without a pinata? If you’re 7, a pinata is everything! I enjoyed making it though and this time of year is perfect for having a Pinata because we just fill it with Halloween candy! We also added some pencils and hair bows that we made.
The pinata is paper mache and covered with streamers. The LOL writing is a colouring page that was googled, printed, cut out and colured and the LOL doll above was cut out of some random LOL things my daughter had.
The colouring t-shirts were such a hit! I purchased blank white t-shirts and used my Cricut to put an LOL doll on it with black iron on vinyl that could be coloured in with fabric markers! You could do this for any themed colouring shirt. Again, I went to google to find “LOL colouring sheet” and then uploaded that file to design space. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. The girls all had so much fun colouring their shirts.
The cake… while it may have looked alright, to be honest, it didn’t taste very good! I made an angel food cake from a box and used icing from a can. Neither turned out awesome, but I made up for it with a homemade chocolate cheesecake for her actual birthday!
As for this, not so great tasting cake, I made the angel food cake in a bundt pan, added lots of icing squeezed in circles using a ziploc bag with a small hole in it and stuffed an LOL doll in the top! Voila!
