If you have a Lego-loving kid in your house, a DIY Lego-themed birthday party is the perfect way to celebrate! From decorations and activities to food and party favours, you can create a fun and memorable experience without breaking the bank.
Here’s how to plan the ultimate Lego party at home. Oh and thanks to help from my 10 year old, we even planned this Lego party the night before! While I don’t recommend it, just know it’s possible!
We’ve also shared some other Lego themed party inspiration that you may want to incorporate if you give yourself a little more planning time 🙂
1. Lego Block Juice Boxes
We used construction paper, hot glue and foam sheets to make covers for juice boxes that looked like lego blocks. I did not want to spend hours cutting the circles out so I did use my Cricut to cut them out, but another alternative would be to purchase dot stickers and stick them on or just colour the circles on with a darker shade of the same coloured paper.
We’ve shared all the details on how to make these in our YouTube video below, or just click HERE.
2. Lego Necklaces – Party Favours
I’ve seen similar ones and wanted to try making our own, but I wasn’t sure how hard it was to drill the holes in the lego. Turns out, it was really easy! I just used a small drill bit and put the lego in a vice and it was super easy to drill the hole. My daughter made all the designs and I think they turned out so cute! We gave these to each of the kids who came to the party. I’m not huge on goodie bags, but I do love finding a fun party favour to make.
The process of drilling the holes is also shown in our video.
3. Lego Block Birthday Cake
This was super easy to make. Just bake cupcakes and a square cake. My son was turning 4 and we ended up making a 4 square block which worked out, but that actually wasn’t intentional 🙂
Once the cake has cooled, dirty ice the whole thing, then cut the tops of the cupcakes off, dirty ice them and place on top, cut side down, on top of the cake. Place in a fridge for the icing to harden for a few hours and ice the entire cake again with clean icing!
We use no-egg chocolate and vanilla cake recipes and dairy free buttercream icing to accommodate our dairy-free guests.
4. Lego Built Napkin + Utensil Holders
This was my daughter’s idea. She build a napkin holder and fork holder out of lego. I thought it was so resourceful and creative. Chances are if you are having a lego themed birthday party, you have a lot of lego in your home, so why not make use of it! I’m sure you could come up with lots of other fun ways to incorporate lego into a lego birthday party. Let us know in the comments if you’ve tried other ideas.
