It’s week 5 of the One Room Challenge which means we are over half way! Do I feel more than half done. No, not I do not! This past week felt like more life than renovations was happening, but that’s ok! Keep reading to see what I got up to.

First, let’s talk about what the One Room Challenge is. Have you heard of it? It’s a biannual event that is held every spring and fall. Anyone with a blog, Instagram or TikTok account is welcome to join the fun. It goes over 8 weeks and each week you share an update on on our room. It’s a fun way to connect with other like minded people and be able to encourage each other through all the ups and downs of renovating! I highly encourage you to check out all the other participants HERE.
Week 5 One Room Challenge Progress
The goal for this week was to work on the arch shelf. I did work on it, not as much as I would have liked, but I’m learning to celebrate what I do, instead of dwelling on what I didn’t do. Easier said than done, right?
A few weeks ago we removed the build in shelf and this week I sanded it down, primed it and use my Critter paint stayer to spray it. I left the top of the shelves unpainted because they are going to be covered in wood.
The Critter paint sprayer is a less expensive, entry level type sprayer and I had had it work well in the past, but have also had challenges with it so I was unsure how spraying would go. I did add one capful of Benjamin Moore paint extender to the mason jar before spraying. The extender thins the paint a bit and increasing the drying time to reduce clogging in the sprayer. Let me tell you, it WORKED AWESOME! I didn’t have to adjust the sprayer nozzle throughout painting, it went on super smooth! I did two coats, with a light sand and wipe down between coats. You do need an air compressor for this sprayer, but if you’re looking for an affordable option then definately check out the link below!
Next week I’ll continue with the arch shelf, I’m hoping to get it complete and I’ll also be ordering blinds. Why are decisions so hard!
What is this office renovation costing?
I’m talking about the thing that everyone shys away from. WHY? Because its a HUGE part of renovating! I don’t want to paint an unrealistic picture for you so I’m sharing the cost breakdown as I work through this renovation. If you follow on Instagram, you’ll find the cost breakdown in the caption of my reels and posts. If I’m missing something, just ask!
Here’s what I bought two weeks ago:

Last week I made $80 from selling the desk & shelf
TOTAL SPENT $41.44
There was no new spending to track this week. Next week will be a big one though!
