How does your home make you feel? Relaxed and calm or anxious and overwhelmed? I have a hard time relaxing on a good day, but if my home is disorganized (which it often is) then I have a really hard time!
I know it’s time to declutter when I’m feeling extra anxious and I can’t keep anything tidy for more than an hour! And right now, IT IS TIME! Want to see the current state of my home? It might break your eyes… click HERE.
31 Days of Decluttering
One thing I have learnt: the spaces I have organized well, stay organized. What does that mean? If things have a dedicated home then they are more likely to be put back. This means no stacking, dividers, separate bins, labels, boxes, etc. If things do not have a home then I need to find a dedicated place for them or get rid of it.
We are currently building a built in storage closet for rubbermaid bins and seasonal stuff in our basement. We know this stuff needs a proper home and it’s things we don’t want to get rid of. Click HERE for a peek of what it looks like so far!
31 Days of Decluttering – Let’s Do This!
In an effort to declutter my own home, I made a list. I know there’s all different decluttering lists out there online but I wanted something that would work for me. I like to take Sundays off from the regular chores, so I made Sundays a catch up day and a day to make sure I’m getting rid of extra items whether that is selling them, donating or giving away. I also wanted to make sure each day is achievable. My littlest still naps and I didn’t want the task to take the whole nap time! I have other things to do too 🙂
I encourage you to review the list and see if there’s any changes you want to make to customize it to your own decluttering desires!
If you love printed versions then you’re going to want to print our FREE Calendar! I have mine on the fridge and I love crossing off each day. I’ve also been adding the items that I’ve sold. I’ll do an update post at the end to share how much I spent on organizing supplies and how much I sold in clutter!!
One more thing that will help you declutter
As I go through each day I asked myself: is this something I wear/use? If the answer is sometimes, then I ask myself; can I live without it? Is there something else that serves the same purpose that I like better? Is it really needed?
